Ballinrobe
- Established 1895, Ballinrobe Golf Club is reputed to be the finest in the
West of Ireland. This scenic parkland golf course will offer a
challenge to any golfer with its mature trees, man-made lakes, lush fairways
and traditional stone walls. Designed by Eddie Hackett, Ballinrobe looks like
a golf course that has been in existence for 100 years.
18 holes. Par 73. 6,800 yds. Parkland.
Enniscrone is one of those links that you can recommend to your friends and visitors without any fear that they will come away disappointed. Undoubtedly it is its right to be included among such exalted company as Ballybunion & Connemara as the premier links on the Western seaboard.
“The course is
amongst the most beautiful - and testing - in Ireland. Achieving the par of 72
at Connemara is a considerable achievement even for the best of golfers.”
Golf Monthly, February 2004
“A true Championship Links Course...The elevated greens on the back nine are
spectacular.” Tom Watson
“If there were a course like this on the west coast of England it would
surely host the British Open.” Peter Alliss, golf writer and
BBC commentator.
Westport Golf Club
is rated as one of the top golf courses in Ireland.
It is recognised as a prestigious venue and has hosted both the Ladies Home
Internationals in 1989 and the Irish Amateur Close Championship on three
occasions, most recently in 1997.
The staging of the 2002 Smurfit Irish P.G.A. Championship in Westport clearly
establishes Mayo as the premier golf county in Ireland. No other county has
the combination of a regional airport, a wide range of affordable
accommodation, a National Tidy Town Award Winner and most importantly easy
accessibility to every type of golf course imaginable.
